Folklore Collection in Vavdos

The Folklore Collection was created in 1997 by the Vadonion Association in Thessaloniki and the Folklore and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia-Thrace. The collection is housed in primary school halls.

The exhibition presents the traditional life of Vavdos through artifacts and photographs from the late 19th and in the early 20th century. Thus, it has been a representation of a traditional homemade, including the corner of the loom, the corner of the apparel – mainly the women’s – the living room with the fireplace, the toilet, the swing, the bed and the rustic, the traditional kitchen and the cellar with basic food items (bread, oil and wine) and related items.

The collection also includes objects related to the economic life of the village, beekeeping, agriculture, sericulture, livestock farming and especially the mines near the village.
