Windmill of Ormylia

LocationOrmylia

The Windmill of Ormylia dates back to the end of the 19th century and survives from the time when the area was a suburb of the Holy Monastery of Dochiarios on Mount Athos. It is a stone-made windmill, a very careful construction, with a height of 6,30 meters, a diameter of 6,50 meters, a walling thickness of 1,20 meters at the base and 0,65 meters at the top. In 1981, a listed building was declared and its restoration was decided. Today, the windmill is intended to be a tourist attraction for Ormylia and a place to serve for recreation, educational purposes and the organization of cultural events.
