Polygyros Historic Center Area

LocationPolygyros

The historical center of Polygyros, namely the area from the “six fountains” to Makedonomachon Square, is characterized as a historical site. It is a settlement developed mainly during the 18th and 19th centuries. The organization of its urban fabric is of particular interest with two main parallel axes from which a circular secondary road grid develops. The buildings are stone-built, two-storeyed most and are divided into two large groups, the folk-faced buildings with wooden loggias, and the later 1890s with symmetry in the facades that are highlighted either by a triangular pediment in the center of the face or by projection of the central part .
