The platanos was designated a listed monument of nature, according to the decision 44039 / 2525/1975 and the Gazette 738 / ΤΒ / 1976 of 1976. The plane tree is very old and it has a height of 20 m and a perimeter of 15 m. Its position is in square of the village of Geroplatanos at the foot of Mount Holomontas, Chalkidiki. The tree has huge branches and at its root there is water. The name of the village is due to the plane tree.
