Easter in Arnaia

LocationArnaia

On Easter Day in the village square, the “Easter kiosk” custom revives. Girls dressed in traditional costumes offer all the passing red eggs, tsoureki, pies and wine. The second day revives the custom of “weighing”.

The third day of Easter takes place the custom of “Koutsmanos”. Residents of Arnaia riding on horses and dressed in traditional costumes ascend to the hill of Prophet Elijah. They worship the icons and then the “Koutsmanos” dance begins. There is also a goal shooting with red eggs and later they descend to the chapel of Agia Paraskevi, where the dance and the feast continues.
