Apostles Peter & Paul

LocationNea Fokaia

Apostle Paul is the patron saint of Nea Fokea and in this place every year, on June 29-30 (Apostles Peter and Paul), a brilliant feast takes place that gathers many believers from the surrounding area. The operation takes place in the chapel of Saint Pavlos, which is located at the entrance of the village. For the starting date of the Apostle’s worship in Agiasma in Cassandra, we have no knowledge, but certainly it is older than the 16th century. After the arrival and the deep rooting of the refugees from Phocaia of Asia Minor in 1924, for some decades, parallel to the Holy Panigyri, a folk fair took place as an extension; taking place at the cafes on the beach where the locals of the surrounding areas came by all means (cars, carrioles, donkeys) to see the Asia Minor dances of the refugee element such as “ballo”, “carsilamas” and “aptaliko” dance.
