The Holy Temple of Timios Ioannis Prodromos was founded in 1975 by Archimandrite Gregory Papasotiriou (click on the name of the Elder to listen to him). The first nominees were the sisters Eugenia and Maria Horiatakis, Sofia Kenanidou from Metamorphosi in Halkidiki and the Tsaprazoglou sisters from Vatopedi.

The place that housed the Monastery was the same as the one that housed the old holy monastery of the Dionysios Monastery. It is no coincidence that the monastery under construction was initially served by the chapel of St. John the Baptist. Over the course of time, the old buildings where the monks’ cells are today are being reconstructed.

The inauguration of the Catholic church took place on 30/08/1981. It is a Byzantine temple temple dedicated to the Bethlehem of the Baptist. The construction of the temple was completed after 10 years of donations by the faithful. The monastery celebrates on 24 June and 29 August.

Today he has 50 nuns in his power, with the revered Euphemia Monk. The monastery does not accept pilgrims Wednesday and Friday as well as all the days of the Lent.
