Nea Moudania has the largest fish auction in Northern Greece and one of the largest fish production (anchovy) in the Mediterranean (more than 20,000 tons per year). The port of N. Moudanion operates as an auxiliary to that of Thessaloniki and many cargo ships dock in it. At times the port of Nea Moudania has been connected by ferry to Skiathos and Limnos.
