Within two kilometers of the center of picturesque Arnea, the women’s Kosia Monastery of Aetholos, in a magnificent landscape, on the southeastern slopes of Holomont, overlooking the Mount Athos.

The monastery is built at the site of Saint Cosmas, who appeared in a godly woman on 23/7/1943, the day the Bulgarians entered Arnea and said, “Do not be afraid, you will not do anything, I will keep you safe”. Since 1952 there has been a chapel in this place.

The monastery was founded in 1999 and is considered the first monastery in Greece dedicated to the great teacher of the genus. In 2001, the dynasties of the Holy Monastery took place. Nowadays three nuns live with the Abbot of the Celtic nun Mariam. Spiritual of the monastery is Archimandrite Chrysostomos, protosygeloglou of the Holy Metropolis of Ierissos.

The monastery is open every day 9am. – 1 pm and 4pm – 8pm. He celebrates on August 24 in memory of Agios Kosmas of Aetolos. In the place of appearance of the Saint on 23 July there is a sacred vigil. The second feast of the monastery takes place in the memory of Saint Spyridon on 12 December
