Gerakini is a seaside settlement located between Kassandra and Sithonia, very close to the capital of the prefecture, Polygyros, and has an amazing view of Toroneos Bay. It is approximately 65 km from Thessaloniki. In the area there is a beautiful long sandy beach with clean waters and organized beach bar. In the area of Gerakini there are many rooms to let, villas and hotels.
At the beginning of the previous century there was a small settlement of the white-collar workers of the area. Its development began in 1960. The area’s products are olives and oil. Today it has been developed with hotels, rooms for rent and camping.
Near Gerakini, the site of a Roman settlement was found, which probably succeeded the classic city of Mickyverna, which was only two kilometers away. Also, a few kilometers north of Gerakini, at “Celio”, there are traces of another Roman and Byzantine settlement.
