Diaporos Island

Diaporos is an island, located opposite Vourvourou, just 10 km from Agios Nikolaos, in the municipality of Sithonia. It has an area of ​​3.2 square kilometers and a huge natural bay over 700 meters long, which serves as a docking site for ships when the sea becomes turbulent. The bay ends up in shallow waters, which are always warm and suitable for winter swimmers. Most of the island is covered with pine forest.

Diaporos is surrounded by a complex of islands, Ambelitsi, Kalogria, Peristeri, Saint Isidoros, Prasonisi and they are located opposite Vourvourou, just 10 km from Agios Nikolaos of the municipality of Sithonia.

In the area there are ruins of prehistoric buildings dating from 3000 BC and the settlement of Diaporou dates back to the Early Bronze Age, while there are stones, a few fragments of cooking utensils and some millstones

To visit the islands today is quite difficult, because there is no transportation there. However, boats for rent can be found in Vourvourou and make a visit to a sandy beach or to a hidden bay.
