Simandra (or Karkara) is a small town and the same name in the Municipality of Nea Propontida in the prefecture of Chalkidiki. It is the largest municipal apartment in the municipality, after Nea Moudania. Its location is at the foot of Lostriti.

The village constitutes another refugee village in Chalkidiki. In particular, the inhabitants came from Artakis of Propontida and Simandra (now Semenre) of Cappadocia, hence the name. They settled in the settlement formerly called Karkara. A worthwhile temple is the Temple of Saints Twelve Apostles. In this temple the inhabitants carried the heirlooms from their homelands when they came as refugees.

About two and a half kilometers east of Simandra, based on the surface pottery, the Roman settlement was located, which administratively belonged to the Roman colony of Cassandria.

Every summer in August, memorial events are organized for the unforgettable homelands. Through dance the song, photo exhibitions and other events is connected past with the present to have the future. Another reason why you will visit Simandra are the carnival events that take place during the three days of the carnival, culminating in the parade of the Carnivalists and their tanks, which is taking place on the Clean Monday. Free wine and local traditional sausages offered to all guests accompany the feast and take the fun.
