Ormilia is a town in the municipality of Polygyros. It is located at the entrance of the Sithonia peninsula and 7 km from the shore of Toroneos Gulf, in the depth of the valley that is the southern part of the catchment area of ​​the river Chavria. It is the most ancient settlement of Chalkidiki, since its presence in the area is uninterrupted from the Neolithic Age until today.

The area was Metohi of Dochiarios Monastery and from this time the windmill, which is an attraction, survives. Throughout Ottoman domination, he belonged administratively to Pazarqiach’s tahitiyah and taxed to the loss of Loggos. The church of Agios Georgios dates back to 1818. The inhabitants of Ormilia participated in the revolution of 1821, among them were the fighters Sarafianos Kopanos, Christos Pavlou and Lambros Mavroudis.

A place of great natural beauty with endless olive groves. The mild Mediterranean climate, the long-lasting sunshine as well as the presence of the Chavria River make Ormilia one of the most fertile areas of Greece for this, and all kinds of agricultural activities and crops are growing with today’s olive cultivation.

Ormilia retains a large part of the characteristics of the old settlements of Halkidiki with its dense construction, traditional houses and picturesque narrow streets. Remarkable buildings for every visitor are the central church of Agios Georgios (1818) with rich relics and icons, the Town Hall (1909) and the archaeological sites of Ancient Sermylis and Ancient Kallipolis. The windmill, located in the hill next to the main road artery and some watermills are still in good condition.

The picturesque chapels of Ag. Georgiou on the homonymous hill, where you can enjoy the panoramic view of Ormilia, the Agioi Apostoloi, in the area of ​​which is the annual grand feast on 29th of June, the Holy Trinity, St. Demetrius, are all buildings of the 19th century.
