LocationNeos Marmaras

Neos Marmaras is a small town on the edge of the peninsula of Sithonia in the prefecture of Chalkidiki. It is built on three hills, at the Itamos or Dtradetelis mountain range. Each year Neo Marmaras visits many tourists as it combines mountain and sea. The marina of the Porto Carras complex hosts hundreds of boats all year round.

At the Kasteli location of Kambouri on a hill, a prehistoric settlement is placed. Neos Marmaras was the property of the Monastery of Gregorios of Mount Athos. To the east of the settlement are saved the buildings of the capital, which took place around 1905, as well as the church of the Assumption of the Virgin, 1863.

The village was founded on 1 August 1924 by refugees, originating from the island of Marmaras in Propontida. By the late 1960s, several residents from the neighboring Traditional Byzantine Settlement, Parthenon, settled in the settlement. The village grew louder and touristy after the construction a hotel in the 60s.

Neos Marmaras quickly evolved into a remarkable tourist resort, resulting in a large concentration of population. An important role for the tourist development of the village was the creation of tourist shops and lodgings that turned Marmaras into a cosmopolitan resort ready to meet the needs of each visitor individually.
