LocationNea Tenedos

Nea Tenedos is a village and a former community of the Prefecture of Chalkidiki. It is administratively owned by the Municipality of New Propontis of the Region of Central Macedonia. The main occupations are agriculture and, in particular, olive-growing, the cultivation of pistachios, cotton and grain, as well as livestock farming.

The Nea Tenedos community was founded in 1924 with the establishment of the refugees from Old Tenedos. Also included in the population were the Thracians (Angelochori, Thrace), Sarakatsani, and the locals from Vavdo.

To the north of the village extends the mountainous area of Vysimos or Mikri Katsika with rich limestone rocks, which prompted the development of the quarry in the area and its characterization as a quarry zone. Nea Tenedos is part of the geothermal field of Triglia with a water temperature of about 42 degrees Celsius. In the village there is one of the three quarries in total in Chalkidiki.
