Nea Roda is a seaside settlement of the prefecture of Chalkidiki. It is the seat of the municipal district of Aristotle, consisting of Nea Roda, Metohi of St. Paul and Skala (uninhabited). In the summer, its population is multiplying.

However, it has been known since the Persian Wars. There, at one point, Xerxes opened a canal of about 1,800 m, so as not to make the tour of Mount Athos. However, the above mentioned position of Provlaka is etymologised by the words before + groove, referring to this work.

Many characterize Nea Roda as the largest settlement of refugees who arrived in northern Chalkidiki after the Asia Minor disaster. Its name also indicates the origin of the inhabitants: the Prophet’s Rose. Approximately 40 families decided to settle, after many wanderings, in the “Prolaka” location in the summer of 1923.

It is located at the narrowest point of the peninsula of Athos and is washed by the sea from two sides. The main occupation of the village inhabitants is agriculture, fishing and tourism.
